Craig Kienast, Clear Lake native, became interested in photography at a young age when his older brother, Val, gave him his first camera to document geological findings for him while working on his college thesis. This lead to Craig attending Hawkeye Community college to learn professional photography. In the early 1990’s Craig returned to Clear Lake and slowly began to build up his portrait business.
In 2002 Craig was instrumental in revolutionizing the photographic industry by melting traditional photography and digital painting. He has won top awards in international photographic competitions for both his portrait and landscape photography. Craig has also served as an international instructor teaching other photographers the techniques he uses.
“As photographers, we have the responsibility to produce images that capture the hearts and minds of our viewers.” (Artist Statement)
We think you will agree his work is more than a photograph…it is truly art!
